About Us

MedStar PHIM was created to provide human resource development and training to knowledge process outsourcing companies and other organizations in the healthcare industry. MedStar PHIM is the local affiliate of MedStar Billing Technology and Resources (MBTR USA), a medical billing company located in Manhattan, New York, USA. It provides healthcare transaction processing services for physicians and innovators in providing training to healthcare professionals.

Ms. Judilyn F. Cañete heads both MedStar PHIM and MBTR-USA as CEO/President. She bears distinct pride in her Ilonggo roots, which

hails from Bacolod City. Her proven expertise, coupled with her profound educational background and training as a teacher by profession, have paved the way for Ms. Cañete to craft an online/hybrid Medical Billing and Coding course in New York. She then was tapped by the 1199 Hospital Union, the biggest union for hospital workers in the US, and The City College of New York/Continuing and Professional Studies department to train in its allied health courses.

MedStar is an approved training provider of the American Academy of Professional Coder and TESDA, Philippines, to launch the AAPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) in the Philippines.

In 2022, together with TESDA, the Health Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP), of which MedStar PHIM is an active member, answers the call of the overall national strategy for talent development by searching for training service providers (TSP) like MedStar to roll out the training in medical coding through the TESDA’S. Only 2 out of 5 leading TSP has been chosen to conduct the training in the Philippines, and MedStar PHIM, which is based in Negros Occidental, has been selected.

In 2017, she brought the curriculum to the Province of Negros Occidental to roll out training on Certified Medical Billing and Coding (CBCS) and Certified Professional Coder (CPC-AAPC) under a “Train for Work Scholarship” project through the Negros Occidental Learning Information and Technology Center.
